Static In The Stars is certainly not new to the pages of Hammer Records, and always puts on a great show. Lead singer, Jordan Carriere, knows how to demand attention with catchy lyrics, strong vocals, and the stage presence of a real frontman; and just who's did he grab last night? HEY BOMBSHELL! Formerly known as "For The Weekend," this group of celebrity hearthrobs were front and center to support Jordan and Static In The Stars on Saturday night. Filling in on bass was Scott Whalen from local Hard-Rock band, It's Criminal. He had a solid sound, and as always, the riffs are thick and plentyful. Solid guitar work from Cam Thomas, and flashy drums by Trent Otter completed their sound, and got people dancing off to the sides. Great set, great band. If you haven't liked them on FACEBOOK, do it! Do it now! SITS is soon to take off! (Irony?)
We were pleasantly surprised to see such a crowd out for Victoria band, Handsome Distraction's set. Having just released their brand new EP, "Fight of Flight" that night, these four guys looked absolutely stoked to get playing. Handsome Distraction has a great Rock N' Roll/College rock sound. If I were to compare them to any artist, it would have to be Weezer. The lead guitarist could have used the stage a bit more, but other than that, the whole mix sounded awesome, the use of three vocalists added great dynamic to already driving tunes, and over all, it was a great set. To check out their new EP, or anything they've ever done, give them a "like" on FACEBOOK.
Our apologies again to Elizabeth for missing their set - maybe next time!
Keep Rockin,
