The Roxy Launch Project comes ever closer, this month go out and enjoy a great selection of Vancouver music. All these bands are battling over some amazing prizes. We had a great conversation with Komodo Wagon about their upcoming performance.
Hammer Records: What made you enter the Roxy Launch Project?
Komodo Wagon: We are always looking for opportunities that can really help a band take a bigger step towards our goals and dreams. And there is nothing to lose in this situation. Regardless of where we place, it will be a great gig night at the Roxy (whose stage & sound are awesome) and we'll be making new fans and as well as relationships in the industry. The list of sponsors and people involved is just so good that we couldn't pass up a chance to throw our hat in the ring.
Hammer Records: Which of the prizes are you most looking forward to?
Komodo Wagon: The opportunity to Record with Garth Richardson and his team would be a dream come true for any hard Rock band, and to have the backing behind the singles release in the form of Major Distribution and a great Booking Contract... I'm sorry, I can't single one thing out! These are all things can open alot of doors and possibly Expose KOMODO WAGON to Major Rock Radio Audiences.
Hammer Records: How are you going to get fans out to your show? Any special tactics?
Komodo Wagon: Social Media, Beer Bribes (haha)... We'll be working really hard and asking all of our Fans, Friends, and Family to help us out with the August 4th Live Date at the Roxy. It's a Big show for us and I think they know it and will come out in Spades - they are just so amazing for us.
We will be doing a new online Campaign and are working on putting together some kind of reward for fans who bring friends who have never seen us before - new Blood if you will. Watch our Social Media pages for more on that !
Hammer Records: Will you be doing anything special at the show?
Komodo Wagon: We'll be playing at least 1 "not yet recorded" (new) song along with the most spirited tunes from our previous 3 EP's. We're not premeditating anything if that's what you mean, but we will be whipping up a hell of alot of energy and taking as many people in that crowd along for a 40 minute fist pumping, hip grinding, head banging, chorus shouting ride as we possibly can. No qualifications necessary, just show up ready to get on "the Wagon" ;)
Hammer Records: What do you think of battle of the band competitions around the city? Do they help build the scene?
Komodo Wagon: I'm not sure if any of us have ever been part of this type of thing in Vancouver, But it's a very positive thing!
I mean - people and businesses "getting involved" and enabling Bands to gain far more exposure and promotion than a normal nights gig. Influential people in the business actually in the Venue on your gig night. That's the kind of stuff any band should be excited about.! I think it also helps get music fans and regular indie-scene supporters excited and want to come out knowing it's a little bigger deal than most nights. I think it definitely helps build a scene, how could it not?
I'm sure there will be people in some of the local music circles who might scoff at these types of competitions, but in the end that is their problem. We can only challenge them to expand their horizons, get involved, have fun and don't miss out on what will definitely be some of the best nights of the year for Independent Live Music in Vancouver.
Hammer Records: What are some of your social media links? Where can people find your music?
