#CMW Artist Showcase - Featurette

With the hometown advantage, electro-pop duo from Toronto will be performing at Canadian Music Week. We chatted with them about their upcoming performance.

Hammer Records: Tell us what you think of when you think Canadian Music?
Featurette: For a small country, it’s extremely diverse. We would be hard-pressed to come up with any one style that actually defines it, which might ultimately might be it’s strongest attribute. 

Hammer Records: How did you get involved in Canadian Music Week?
Featurette: We actually played CMW last year, and it was such a great experience! We were so honoured to have gotten the opportunity to play, especially considering last year we didn’t even have an album out at that time. We opened a Friday night at the Garrison, and had a great turnout, we hope to top it this year! 

Hammer Records: What do you have planned for Canadian Music Week?
Featurette: It’s top secret - you’ll have to come check it out ;) Last year we were fortunate to have played a bunch of shows at some top notch venues, and we’ve refined our live show over the past year. Our CD release party in October 2015 was off the hook and we plan to bring some of those surprises to this year’s CMW show!

Hammer Records: What message do you want to send to Canadians listening to your music?
Featurette: The whole premise of our band FEATURETTE is just that: it’s like a mini movie and we want to take you on a journey with us when you listen to the album. All the songs play their part in the narrative of lust and self-discovery and we wrote it in a way where we really hope listeners can relate to the content and connect with it on a personal level. Above all else, we hope when you listen to our music you dance a little, and feel what we’re trying to put out there. 

Hammer Records: Whats coming up for you?

Featurette: We just released our debut album CRAVE in late 2015 and we’re still riding that wave. We plan to tour it around a bit this year, we have a couple dates lined up pre-CMW in Ontario and Quebec with some rad other acts that we can’t wait to announce. We’ve got two music videos coming out this year - the first one will probably hit right around the time we play the April 7th Discovery Series showcase at the Painted Lady, so that’s going to be a great celebration. As always, we’re still working on new music - written a bunch of new songs that we hope to make an album out of in the next year or so and some of those tunes might make an appearance at the CMW live showcase - who knows!
