Talking with these Ottawa rockers was a pleasure. What did we talk about? Their upcoming performance at Canadian Music Week! With a long list of performance credit under their belt, it was a treat talking to them about the Canadian music scene. Their personality and professionalism are both top notch!
Hammer Records: Tell us what you think of when you think Canadian Music?
Iconoclast: One of the premiere music festivals in the country. Seven days of more shows than the average person can probably handle, more unsigned bands than most people realize are out there, and an almost unlimited amount of high quality music. I picture large clubs and small bars jam packed with music lovers from 2pm till 4am. It's basically heaven. If you can't tell, we're pretty excited to play.
Hammer Records: How did you get involved in Canadian Music Week?
Iconoclast: We have applied a number of times, and this year we got lucky I guess. Someone knew someone, some of our music got passed along, and here we are.
Hammer Records: What do you have planned for Canadian Music Week?
Iconoclast: We always bring a high energy rock show, whether to a ruckus crowd of 1000, or a table of 12 having drinks. We've done both, and once you're up on that stage, under the lights with the amps cranked up, it really doesn't matter. One of the best shows we ever played was at the Hard Rock in Toronto, and there were maybe a dozen people in the room. We will of course be taking this one a little bit more seriously than some others we have played, but we do this for the love of being on the stage, and wherever that stage may be, we always bring 110%. We play with the sole goal of connecting with every person in the room in some way.
Hammer Records: What message do you want to send to Canadians listening to your music?
Iconoclast: Thank you for supporting independent Canadian Rock 'n Roll.
Hammer Records: What do you have coming up?
Iconoclast: We have recently released a new EP, our fourth studio record, entitled 'They Were Right About Us'. This record was two years in the making, and we are extremely proud of it. We've been getting a fantastic response from fans, and getting play on radio, and even our local NHL team The Ottawa Senator's have been using a couple of the songs during games. If playing a sold out arena to 20,000 fans was the dream, being in that same arena while 20,000 people hear your music is the last thought I had before falling asleep.
We are aggressively booking spring/summer shows, as part of the 'Good Seats Still Available Tour 2016', to help promote our latest record, and just spend more time up on the stage. The more new faces we can meet over this coming year the better, and I have high hopes that a CMW showcase will greatly help that cause.
Our music can be found on all major streaming, digital download sites. I will include links to the most popular spots, our social media, and our website.
