New York artist Laura Stevenson had a few words to share about her upcoming performance at Canadian Music Week.
Hammer Records: Tell us what you think of when you think Canadian Music?
Laura Stevenson: Three of my favorite songwriters- Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Leonard Cohen.
Hammer Records: How did you get involved in Canadian Music Week?
Laura Stevenson: Me and the band had been wanting to do it - and it really works out so perfectly because we are just finishing up a US tour the day before it starts so... it was meant to be.
Hammer Records: What do you have planned for Canadian Music Week?
Laura Stevenson: We'll be playing a lot of songs from the newest record, Cocksure. We haven't played any of them yet in Canada so it'll be really exciting for us. Plus, you know, at the end of a tour - the band is really tight and it's just really fun to play together. I'm really looking forward to it.
Hammer Records: What message do you want to send to Canadians listening to your music?
Laura Stevenson: Thank you for listening!! I'm sorry a lot of the songs are sad!
Hammer Records: Whats coming up for you?
Laura Stevenson: I'm near done writing the next one but for now we are touring the US, then we come up to see you guys, and then head off to Europe a few days later.
