Punk band River Groves is taking their high energy songs to Canadian Music Week this year. A band of few words, we had a quick chat with them about their upcoming performance.
Hammer Records: Tell us what you think of when you think Canadian Music?
River Groves: Celine Dion.
Hammer Records: How did you get involved in Canadian Music Week?
River Groves: We go to CMW Showcases every year. This year we decided to apply, and we were fortunate enough to be selected.
Hammer Records: What do you have planned for Canadian Music Week?
River Groves: We haven't decided what we're wearing yet, but we're probably going to bring a few desk lamps and stuff to make ourselves feel more at home.
Hammer Records: What message do you want to send to Canadians listening to your music?
River Groves: Hey, what's up? We're the River Groves. If you're too punk to be hipster, and too hip to be punk, check out our record, Workhorse. It's the record Weezer was always too cool to make.
Hammer Records: Whats coming up for you?
River Groves: We've been working on some new music for the last couple of months, and you can expect that this summer. Look out for us in an Ontario city near you. And let us sleep on your floor. We don't take up a lot of space.
Our last record, Workhorse, is available for free at our Bandcamp (rivergroves.bandcamp.com). Download it, love it, show it to your grandma. It's a good time, wethinks.
